Against Facebook and other Social Networking Sites

Its time for me to vent out against these websites right now after finding out a very vial thing this morning. Websites like Facebook, Twitter etc are there for keeping in contact with old friends but yet there are people that abuse them by either venting their anger out against the world, bitching about other people and spying/stalking others but worst of all for others to read about devastating news that should never have been found out that way. When I found out about my aunt’s dog dying through Facebook, that hurt me a lot so I can only imagine how this person is feeling right now.

To lose a friend or family member is one of the most painful experiences someone can go through, I know that when I lost my Gran, I still feel that pain everyday almost seven years later.

In this instance, my heart goes out to an old school friend, Estelle Barthorpe, your mum, Kimberley was a wonderful person. She always had the knack of making people laugh with the stories she came out with, such a joker and always full of life. A very, very sad loss. But for you, Estelle, to find out on Facebook that you had lost her today is an absolute disgrace and completely undeserved. After speaking with her yesterday, not knowing it would be the last time you heard her voice, I couldn’t imagine what you are going through right now.

I know I haven’t always seen eye to eye with my mum, but since her operation a few years ago we’ve grown closer, I don’t know what I’d do when she goes, especially knowing it could happen any day. I couldn’t imagine how you are feeling right now.

My sincerest respect goes out to Estelle and her family in this time. Kimberley, you will be missed dearly by everyone and I know you’ll be up there making everyone else laugh.

Rest In Peace Kimberley Barthorpe-Hiles, LH xx

Autism All Stars Foundation Charity Fun Run

Hi everyone!

My lovely other half is doing a fun run this Saturday 21st April 2012, to help raise money for Autism All Stars Foundation Charity Fun Run.

If you would like to sponsor him please follow this link and give generously.

Many thanks!

Things can only get better, surely…

Its been two months since being made redundant and I hate being unemployed. Applying for job after job, not hearing anything back due to the amount of applications they receive can be rather demoralising. Attending the job centre (aka hell) is a horrible experience, especially when they look at you as if to say “why haven’t you got a job?” Well, it wasn’t my decision and my ex-employers were clever with their words even though unofficially I could’ve had them over a barrel for unfair dismissal because of my disability.

That’s another thing, Ankylosing Spondilitis is one of the most painful things to have. People don’t understand that. Some days I can barely walk a few yards without screaming in pain, don’t even talk to me about trying to sleep. Having the base of my spine fused together and knowing the bones of my hips are grinding away with every move I make doesn’t make me look forward to what’s to come.

Despite having no money and no prospects at the moment though, I have a family that loves me, friends who care about me and a wonderful boyfriend who thinks the world of me. The future may seem bleak and our little munchkin may be being born into what feels like poverty but at least he or she will be loved, which is more than anything money can buy, and to know I have my family in these tough times gets me through the day.

This is my genuine thank you to my amazing friends and family (old and new) for the support you have shown me over the last few months. Without you guys I couldn’t have done this, I love you all!

Sincerest Gratitude,
LH xx

Boycott Procter and Gamble (P&G)

We all know the products and plenty of us use them in our everyday lives without realising what goes into the making of these popular brands.

Procter and Gamble are a multi-national company that seem untouchable when it comes to their dealings, they are in fact an evil company that test their products on poor, defensless animals and they need to be stopped. We can’t do this alone but we can make a start by not buying their products, which I will list for you at the end of this blog. There is already a website out there which I have included the link to for Boycott P&G, they outline the effects these tests have on the animals used for testing.

Seeing the torture these poor creatures go through on a daily basis is very upsetting and I refuse to buy any of the listed brands out of protest…I just wish I could do more for them. To see the scientists involved locked in cages and injected or sprayed with the chemicals would be some sort of compensation for the animals.

Procter and Gamble seem to get away with it by claiming the tests are humane and its done on animals they have bred for these purposes. I couldn’t care less about that, at the end of the day they are still living creatures and do not deserve what they have to endure.

Its time to take a stand. Stand up against Procter and Gamble. Boycott their brands and free the animals. Its going to be tough as they have their hand in everything, including being “proud sponsors of mums” and “proud sponsors of the 2012 olympics.” I hate how they quote on their website, “Touching lives, improving life…” What about the animals, how do their lives improves?? Who’s with me?
